State-of-the-art leisure centre chooses EasyGate SPT to greet guests

When the doors opened to Melbourne’s revamped $52 million Keilor East Leisure Centre in October 2021, a brand-new suite of Entrance Control gates was ready to welcome visitors.

And just over two years down the track, the centre’s Operations Manager Lauren Shaw said feedback from staff and members using the four lanes of EasyGate SPT and a separate SwingGate in the leisure centre’s lobby had been positive.

“Regular members have not had any issues at all and find the speedgates accessible for wheelchairs and prams.”

The gates allow members to scan themselves into the aquatic area, speeding up the entry process, and they also make life easier for staff by funnelling casual users towards reception, Shaw said.

The centre’s speedgates have 1200 mm high strengthened glass barriers to deter jump-over attempts and, like the SwingGate beside them, they are finished with a polished 316 stainless-steel finish to protect against pool sanitisation chemicals that can cause corrosion.

The EasyGate’s reliable Magnetic Direct Drive motor drives the swing-door action of the gates, offering a swift and whisper-quiet welcome to swimmers and their companions.

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said EasyGate SPT speedgates were a popular option for Australian leisure centres that wanted a balance between security, style and affordability.

“Keilor East Leisure Centre is a high-profile example of how our speedgates integrate with modern recreation facilities to not only control access, but also save staff time and enhance the experience for visitors.”

The revamped leisure and wellness hub was the City of Moonee Valley’s largest ever capital works project. It houses a 50m heated outdoor pool, 25m indoor lap pool, and an indoor water playground for young children. It also sports a host of other facilities including a spa, sauna, steam room, café, crèche, gym and a group fitness, wellness and cycle studio.
