First impressions secured after refurbishment of premiere WA aquatic centre

Stylish new EasyGate SG speedgates greeted visitors to Bayswater Waves at its grand reopening in February, after a multi-million dollar refurbishment turned the Perth leisure centre into a state-of-the-art facility.

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said the gates were a significant enhancement in both security and user experience and created a fantastic first impression for guests.

“By incorporating our speedgates into its refurbishment programme Bayswater Waves has elevated its security and style standards, while ensuring convenient and efficient access for patrons. It’s a win-win scenario for both the facility and its visitors.

“Entrance Control’s standard Anthracite paint finish on the gates blends perfectly with the design elements of the refurbishment and the architectural aspects of the centre,” he said.

Two lanes of the speedgates secure access to the aquatic area while one lane guards the gym area at the Western Australian facility, with motorised SwingGates alongside offering easy exit from both areas.

Despite being the most cost-effective type of speedgate in the EasyGate range, EasyGate SG does not compromise on security, with its array of infrared sensors offering optical detection to deliver Entrance Control’s unsurpassed tailgate detection capability.

The sleek speedgates are ideal for aquatic and leisure centres where space-saving design can be useful. They boast the smallest pedestal of all EasyGate speedgates and carry the hallmark of high-end European design.

As one of the largest aquatic centres in the Perth metropolitan area, Bayswater Waves is set to be a magnet for water lovers, with its advanced facilities, heated indoor and outdoor pools, indoor waterslide, and spa, sauna and steam room.

New features at the centre include an expanded group fitness room, retiled wave pool, toddler pool, indoor changing rooms and a café area, plus a redesigned function room and remodelled foyer.

Finishing touches are accessibility improvements, including handrails, ramp extensions and tactile markers, as well as a vibrant mural by Perth-based contemporary artist Peter Ryan.

“Entrance Control’s suite of security options are increasingly becoming the go-to option for owners of cutting-edge facilities around the world looking to both safeguard access and add an architectural aesthetic flourish,” Bystram said.
