New speedgate offers extra layer of protection for high-security buildings

A new speedgate from security experts Entrance Control is attracting attention from correctional facilities, data centres and Government sites that want an added level of protection.

The EasyGate HS, or High Security, is a high security option with two separate interlocking barriers to ensure only authorised people gain access to facilities.

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram says the company’s other speedgates, such as the EasyGate LX, are already premium security options, but maximum-security facilities can benefit from another layer of protection.

“Our latest high-quality entrance control system has attracted interest from managers at secure sites, such as Government buildings, data centres and correctional facilities, who need a reliable entrance solution,” he says.

“We wanted to provide a reliable and aesthetically pleasing entrance system that could cater for sensitive and high security sites.”

When a valid access card is scanned at the HS gate, the first barrier opens. Once the user enters the middle section of the lane, the first barrier closes, then the second one opens.

If the gate’s infrared sensors detect more than one person in the ‘secure zone’, the second barrier will not open, and an alarm will activate.

The EasyGate has four security settings that can be tailored to suit different sites. It can automatically trigger CCTV, lock doors, control elevators or activate other third-party security devices in the event of a security breach.

Add-ons such as anti-climb pressure sensors, expanded alarm outputs and a device to play recorded messages in different scenarios, ranging from alarm alerts to invalid card warnings, can be included.

A range of barrier height options is available, from 995mm to 1,800mm, and Mr Bystram says the gate pedestals can also be customised to blend in with a building’s design. The EasyGate HS comes standard with tempered safety glass and sleek-looking brushed stainless steel.
