04 Sep Landmark Parramatta building secured with smart speedgates

As Parramatta’s tallest building and the largest commercial building in Australia, 6 & 8 Parramatta Square is built to impress. Twenty three lanes of EasyGate SPT speedgates have recently been installed to control access at the distinctive business hub.

Entrance Control’s state-of-the-art speedgates control access to different sections of the 243 m, 55 storey skyscraper, with selected lanes in the lower lobbies and sky lobby integrated into a Schindler destination lift control system to automatically allocate lifts for visitors.

The speedgates include 1,800 mm high glass wings that open and close to control access and feature edge lights and wing lights to light up the top of the pedestal and the glass wing barriers, indicating to users when they can proceed. The design of the gates, which incorporate a built-in radio-field amplifier, optimises the distance the gates’ card readers can operate over, making it simple for visitors to swipe themselves through.

Thousands of professionals work from 6 & 8 Parramatta Square, which holds the title of Australia’s largest commercial office tower. Its construction was handled by Walker Corporation, which won the Property Council of Australia’s NSW Development of the Year award in 2022 for neighbouring 3 Parramatta Square.
