Parkline Place, a state-of-the-art Sydney office tower that opened in March, has selected six lanes of uniquely engineered EasyGate IM speedgates to safeguard its main lobby and streamline access for the more than 4,000 employees who use it as a hub for work.
The 39-story tower sits at the heart of the city, nestled between its southern central business district and Midtown retail precinct. It features sustainable design and is entirely powered by renewable energy, with 28 solar modules perched on its roof.
Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said architect Fosters + Partners requested an access control system that could manage high pedestrian volumes while complementing the building’s sophisticated aesthetic, leading to a carefully-crafted solution.
“This project demonstrated how entrance control can be both highly functional and architecturally sympathetic. EasyGate IM’s versatility allowed us to create a bespoke option to manage access efficiently while honouring the architect’s vision for this futuristic building.”
Bystram said the speedgates’ standard pedestals were slimmed down from 210mm to 180mm, after pedestrian-traffic studies showed six lanes were required to handle peak flows of traffic in the lobby.
The speedgates’ aesthetic complements the tower, with their custom electro-bronze metalwork finish and sandstone cladding mirroring the skyscraper’s distinctive bronze and sandstone palette – chosen to match the style of surrounding heritage buildings.
“The attention to detail in this installation reflected the prestigious nature of the Parkline Place development – every element was carefully considered to enhance security, complement the building’s design and provide an exceptional user experience.”
The speedgates integrate with the precinct’s Otis destination-lift control system, allowing them to communicate with the elevator system and direct visitors to specific lifts after being cleared to proceed through the gates’ 1200mm-high barriers.
EasyGate IM are designed with customisation in mind, with barrier heights of up to 1800m and metal side panels available in brushed, polished or coloured steel available. Cladding options can be matched to any floor material, with Corian, wood or stone options to create the perfect visual impression.
Partnering technology with wellbeing considerations, Parkline Place provides purified air, health and mindfulness services, and top-quality facilities for its inhabitants, including 350 lockers and storage for more than 200 bikes.
The landmark building was awarded a 6-Star Green Star v1.3 Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, representing the pinnacle of international sustainable building construction and industry-leading evolution in office design.
Working on projects like Parkline Place is particularly rewarding, Bystram said.
“Our entrance control solution is now an integral part of a smart building that’s helping to redefine the workplaces of the future, all while being completely powered by renewable energy – it’s incredible.”
