Space-saving gate supports organisations looking to divide spaces in style

A sleek new access control solution has been released in Australia and New Zealand, designed to compartmentalise internal spaces without taking up the area that a traditional swing barrier requires.

Entrance Control has added NexGate to its range to provide a compact solution to control access points within office floors, at the tops and bottoms of stairs, and at the entrance to lift lobbies – or any other open-plan space.

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said NexGate’s retractable glass panels solved a common problem faced by organisations needing to separate internal areas securely.

“Traditional swing-barrier gates need clearance to open, which limits where you can position them. NexGate’s panels retract directly into the cabinet, so it can sit close to walls, partitions or open stairwells without eating into floor space.”

Bystram said NexGate’s minimal design and quality engineering gave it a unique sense of style.

“It’s a premium product designed for prestige environments – we wanted to offer a high-tech security solution that would enhance the aesthetic of modern spaces.”

NexGate’s standard finish is classic brushed 304 stainless steel, with customisation options including white and black powder-coating, or other panel colours if desired, plus branding to create the perfect corporate aesthetic and optional LED navigation lighting and wing lights.

The gate integrates easily with third-party access control systems and works with RFID, mobile access and QR code technology, allowing it to synchronise smoothly with existing security infrastructure. It’s built for high-throughput scenarios, ensuring it can even be used in retail stores that wish to require customers to scan a receipt before exiting.

NexGate’s panels are crafted from 8mm-thick toughened glass and retreat into streamlined 140mm-deep cabinets to allow passage through, taking up the least pedestal area possible. They can be mounted on a 900mm-wide lane to support support DDA compliant access for wheelchair users.

Three infrared sensors carefully monitor people’s passage through the gate in real time, closing the panels safely only once they’ve passed through, while an optional climb-over detection upgrade is available for facilities wanting an additional layer of security.

Bystram said Entrance Control’s latest product supports organisations to choose access control that maximises available space without compromising on style.

“NexGate provides an elegant way to create secure zones within an open environment, rather than forcing a compromise between security and design, setting a new benchmark for space-saving entrance control solutions.”
