Brisbane’s prestige office tower, 205 North Quay, has had nine lanes of custom EasyGate LC speedstiles installed to deliver sophisticated access control, all while complementing the building’s iconic design.
The 38-storey architectural marvel, featuring a cathedral-like ground-floor public plaza and triple-height terraces, is safeguarded by three banks of three lanes of speedstiles strategically positioned at each lift lobby on its mezzanine level.
Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said the installation required custom engineering to meet the building’s spatial constraints while maintaining optimal security for its 50,000 square metres of premium office space.
“The 205 North Quay project presented an interesting design challenge with its narrow reception areas. Our team developed super sleek 1,000mm pedestals instead of our standard 1,200mm design, offering slimline security without compromise.
“Every project helps us refine our mission of harmonising security requirements with architectural vision – we relish the challenge of finding the perfect solution.”
Each bank of three lanes features RFID readers with Bluetooth connectivity alongside QR code readers to offer visitors different identification options. Seamless integration with Schindler destination lift control intelligently streamlines the user journey from initial welcome to final destination.

Bystram said the technology integration reflected the smart building’s co-ordinated infrastructure approach.

205 North Quay’s state-of-the-art design boasts outdoor terraces on every level, a whole-floor wellness facility with 25-metre lap pool, childcare facilities, and a 210-seat public auditorium.
As one of the first commercial buildings in Australia to focus on offering tenants a holistic work-life approach with an extensive suite of amenities, 205 North Quay reflects changing expectations for premium office environments, Bystram said.

Located prominently on the river’s edge at the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, the $600M project was brought to life after four local and international architectural teams were shortlisted in a design competition.
The winners Hassell, New York’s Rex, and Brisbane firms Richards and Spence, and Arcadia Landscape Architecture were chosen by developers Cbus Property and Nielson Properties to develop the 3,000 square-metres of premium Brisbane real estate.
Services Australia will be the sole tenant of 205 North Quay on completion, when it is set to house more than 4,000 public servants delivering essential government programs and services.
