The Customer
UTS Union is a not-for-profit organisation and all membership fees and proceeds go towards ensuring the continued provision of essential community services and facilities on campus of the University of Technology in Sydney. UTS union operates 5 shops across the campuses of UTS
The Challenge
In order to prevent retail shrinkage UTS union identified one particular entrance that was tucked away from the cashier and as such it was seen as a potential weak spot where people could exit the shop without being monitored.
The Solution
CENTAMAN installed a RotoGate which allows people to enter the shop through this entrance but it doesn’t allow egress.
The RotoGate has an inbuilt auto sensor that detects when people approach the entrance and then the gate will automatically swing open. The RotoGate was also provided with clear signage to show which way it should be used. As a final part of the solution a PE beam sensor was installed to trigger an audible warning when anyone enters or exits from than area.
