16 Mar Platinum support keeps Melbourne’s Keilor East Leisure Centre pumping

State-of-the-art Keilor East Leisure Centre is set to expand its suite of Entrance Control speedstiles in April, adding two lanes of EasyGate SPT speedstiles to secure its gym entrance.

The $52 million leisure facility was the City of Moonee Valley’s largest ever capital works project when it opened in 2021, with four lanes of EasyGate SPT speedstiles and one SwingGate securing the entrance to its aquatic area. Last year it welcomed 500,000 visitors.

Keilor East Leisure Centre Venue Manager James Worboyes said the reliability of the speedstiles, backed by a ‘Platinum Service Plan’ from Entrance Control, had been crucial for the facility over the recent peak season.

“Downtime for the gates has been really low, which is important for us operating the facility. Anytime there’s downtime it’s a huge hassle and a poor experience for members. Having that support there and having pretty much no downtime has been fantastic.

Premium support for prestige facilities

The popular Keilor East Leisure Centre is the City of Moonee Valley’s flagship aquatic and wellness facility, housing a 50m heated outdoor pool, 25m indoor lap pool, indoor water playground, spa, sauna, steam room, café, crèche, gym and a group fitness, wellness and cycle studio.

When it opened the facility invested in Entrance Control’s Platinum Service Plan, which provides three maintenance visits per year to minimise reactive repairs, plus access to parts, factory-trained technicians and extended parts warranties.

Worboyes said the plan’s proactive approach to caring for the centre’s security infrastructure, partnered with the backup protection the plan offered, was hugely valuable.

“The key thing is the preventative maintenance schedule. Having our gates running at all times with almost no down time, gives us the opportunity to do what we do best, which is to build relationships with casual customers and members – I think that’s really important.”

Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said its support packages offer peace of mind for facilities where reliable access security is essential.

“Busy recreation centres can’t afford the negative impacts of security system failures. Our Platinum Service Plan ensures speedstiles receive regular maintenance aligned with Australian Standard AS 5007-2007 to reduce the likelihood of any issues before they occur.”

As well as three annual maintenance visits and an extended warranty on top of the standard 12-month warranty on parts and materials, this premium level of support also offers out-of-hours call-out options, and priority response within 24 hours – all managed by a dedicated 24/7 help team based in Sydney.

Bystram said the level of support required depends on the impact that any issues with entrance control would have on facilities.

“High-traffic scenarios require the comprehensive support our platinum package delivers. Less busy facilities might find our silver-level support or self-managed options more appropriate.”
