Stylish entrance control gates featuring the latest in biometric technology have been installed at 100 Mount Street – North Sydney’s tallest building.
A contactless IDEMIA MorphoWave biometric scanner is integrated into the frame of the customised Centaman EasyGate SPT speedgates installed at the landmark building. The new gates, which feature an eye-catching aesthetic and a narrow pedestal that can fit into tight spaces, utilise the latest technology to let authorised personnel into and out of the building with a swipe of their fingers.
The 100 Mount Street premium office tower, owned by Dexus and Dexus Wholesale Property Fund, was completed in May 2019. Designed by Architectus and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, it features 35 stories of architecturally designed office space inhabited by some of Sydney’s best-known companies. These include NBN and multinational construction firm Laing O’Rourke, which played a central role in the building’s construction.
Dexus was the first to implement this biometric technology in office buildings and now has more than 2,000 people at 100 Mount Street registered with their biometrics, removing the need for physical access cards.
Architectus Senior Associate Simon Zou said the Centaman EasyGate SPT’s aesthetic and quality made it the obvious choice.

Centaman Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said installation of the gates at such iconic buildings was a vote of confidence.
Other high profile buildings that are now using Centaman gates to control access include Channel 9’s Melbourne headquarters at 717 Bourke Street, the lobbies of 200 George St office tower and iconic Governor Phillip Tower in Sydney, and the Parliament Buildings in Wellington, New Zealand. While these examples don’t incorporate biometrics, they are no less impressive.

The customised EasyGate SPT used at 100 Mount Street has 1,200 mm high glass barrier gates to complement the building’s aesthetic. High security variations featuring 1,800 mm high glass barriers are also available for sites that require elevated levels of security.
