30 Jan Customised EasyGate SPT entrance control for landmark Perth office building
Western Australia’s leading energy provider Synergy has safeguarded its four-floor office tenancy in Perth’s Central Park Tower with 13 lanes of EasyGate SPT speedgate, creating a security envelope distinct from the building’s other floors.
On three of the floors, access is controlled by speedgates in front of the lifts, while on the other floor free access to Synergy’s reception is allowed for visitors, with three speedgates stationed to protect corridors leading off into controlled areas.
Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said the multi-floor installation, completed last year, demonstrated the versatility of EasyGate SPT entrance control gates in meeting complex security settings.
“In a shared building situation it’s crucial that each tenant’s security needs are met without disrupting the overall functionality of the space. The installation for Synergy is a perfect example of how this balance can be achieved.
“By positioning the speedgates directly in front of the lifts and using them strategically on their reception level, the gates have helped Synergy establish independent security boundaries within their operating environment.”
Synergy’s suite of speedgates feature a slimmed-down pedestal width of 1,200mm, ensuring optimal use of the available space without compromising on security. Each lane is equipped with 1,800mm-high glass barriers, providing a formidable physical deterrent against unauthorised access.
Warm blue wing lights integrated into the barriers guide authorised personnel through gates, complemented by lane lights indicating ingress is available, while emergency break glass units are fitted to each lane to ensure safe and swift egress in case of an emergency.
“The combination of high-glass barriers, entrance control lights, and an emergency fail-safe makes Synergy’s installation not just a security solution, but a complete access-management system that enhances safety and efficiency in a welcoming way,” Bystram said.
EasyGate SPT was revamped in 2023 with a range of innovative upgrades including reworked electronics, extra-secure barrier wings that sit 230mm above the ground to deter people crawling underneath.
As one of Entrance Control’s most popular models it has been used to secure some of Australia and New Zealand’s busiest prestige buildings, from Adelaide Festival Tower and Parramatta’s 32 Smith to Brisbane’s Midtown Centre and New Zealand’s Parliament Buildings.
Synergy is the primary electricity and gas provider for millions of residential, business and industrial customers throughout Western Australia, supporting the state’s renewable energy future with a goal to reduce its carbon emissions by 80% by 2030, compared to 2020 levels.
Central Park Tower is an iconic business hub in the heart of Perth and has been the city’s tallest building since its completion in 1992. A rejuvenation project from 2021 to 2024 with an aesthetic and sustainability focus boosted thermal insulation, improved energy efficiency and enhanced tenant comfort levels.
