Barwon Water’s Geelong office can accommodate up to 350 staff, and includes two buildings which were originally constructed in the 1960s and 1970s. The buildings were refurbished to improve efficiency and create one linked building that accommodated the full workforce.

Barwon Water’s employees were previously accommodated at two offices. One of the goals of the large-scale refurbishment was to link the buildings in a way that established secure entry points while allowing staff to easily access both buildings in an efficient way.

The use of speedgates at this site meant a secure solution could also blend in unobtrusively with the building’s design.

The reception and an internal staircase were secured with EasyGate SPT model speedgates from Centaman Entrance Control. The speedgates are 1800 mm high to deter jump-over attempts and provide a secure solution for the statutory water management authority office. The barriers can also open both ways and are programmed to swing away when people enter, creating a more inviting approach than one-way barriers, and hands-free thoroughfare for people carrying equipment.
