08 Jul Cancer Council offers a warmer welcome with EasyGate SPT upgrade
Australia’s leading cancer charity has upgraded to EasyGate SPT at its Sydney headquarters, taking advantage of the space-saving and technological benefits of Entrance Control’s flagship speedstile.
Cancer Council’s new entrance gate welcomes staff and visitors with the more user-friendly door-like motion offered by modern swing-style speedstiles, plus sleeker aesthetics and cobalt-blue wing lights to guide authorised people through.
Entrance Control General Manager Michael Bystram said the installation reflected Cancer Council’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for people often dealing with challenging circumstances, while maintaining necessary security protocols.
“Cancer Council’s decision to upgrade after ten years using EasyGate LX demonstrated the trust they place in our technology. The new EasyGate SPT installation provides a friendlier first impression and more intuitive access for users.”
The slimmer 180mm pedestals of EasyGate SPT allowed two 1,000mm-wide DDA-compliant lanes to replace the previous configuration of one DDA lane and one narrow lane. This offers easier access for wheelchair users, people with mobility aids and those carrying personal belongings.
Bystram said the upgrade created a more inclusive environment for people entering the building.
“Accessibility was a crucial consideration for Cancer Council and having two fully compliant DDA lanes fitting into the same footprint as the previous speedstiles is a more efficient use of space.

The eye-catching wing lights integrated into the new speedstiles’ glass panels provide clear visual guidance for users, eliminating confusion about when to proceed through the gates, which is especially valuable for visitors who may be experiencing stress or distraction.
EasyGate SPT is Entrance Control’s flagship model and also its most popular, revamped in 2023 and enhanced with a suite of custom options to support tailored solutions for any security scenario.
Standard 1,800mm-high glass barriers, partnered with a 230mm gap at the floor, shut down climb-over or crawl-under attempts, while 36 sensors monitor unauthorised breaches or tailgating.
