Genesis Fitness uses turnstiles from CENTAMAN to control access in to their facilities

Genesis fitness clubs commenced operation in Ringwood Victoria in 1997. Since this time Genesis has developed into one of Australia’s premier fitness club organisations.

With clubs all over Australia and the backing of one of Australia’s largest management companies – Belgravia Leisure, Genesis is one of the fastest growing fitness chains in the world.

The Challenge

As part of their new site Genesis wanted to implement an effective access control system to enable valid members to quickly and easily gain access to the centre whilst ensuring non members can’t gain access thereby protecting their revenue stream.

The turnstiles needed to integrate with a 3rd party membership system.

The Solution

CENTAMAN provided 2 lanes of entrance control and integrated them with the membership system via a custom interface.

One lane is a tripod turnstile and the other is an motorised pedestrian gate. The tripod turnstile has an integrated barcode reader than allows members to scan their own cards to automati-cally verify they are members entering at a valid time. This speeds up access for the mem-bers and frees up the reception teams time which can then be put to better use handling booking, new membership enquiries etc. The Swing Gate is a dedicated exit lane and whilst also facilitating disabled access which ensures compliances with the DDA. A set of PE beams are mounted in front of the pedestrian gate so the gate automatically opens as people walk up to leave. In addition there is an override button at the reception desk allowing for manual over-ride.
